Coming into hospital is an opportunity to talk about your smoking with one of our team
The Tobacco Dependence Treatment Team (TDT) covers University Hospital, Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich.
They provide patients that have been admitted into hospital support to manage their tobacco dependence symptoms (nicotine cravings) while they are unable to smoke in the hospital or on the grounds. You don’t have to ‘quit’ smoking, the team is here to make your stay more comfortable by managing your nicotine withdrawal.
While in hospital you can ask your nurse to provide smoking medications to manage the urge to smoke and the TDT can come and help you to make this as easy as possible.
If you want to stay smokefree after you are discharged, you can be referred into the community team for ongoing support and medications at a venue close to your home or you can come into the hospital to attend one of our outpatient smoking clinics which are held every Tuesday and Friday in Suite 8.
