We’re not here to scare you and the last thing that we want is for you to feel pressured into giving up smoking. However, it is always good to have an idea of what may happen to you and your baby if you continue to smoke throughout your pregnancy.

Stopping smoking during pregnancy will significantly reduce any health risks that you and your unborn baby may suffer.  Some of these risks include: miscarriage, haemorrhage during pregnancy, low birth weight, premature birth, still born and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Additionally, babies born prematurely are at increased risk of respiratory problems, and inhaling second hand smoke will make them more at risk of bronchitis, pneumonia, middle ear infections, asthma and wheezing.
