How much will advice and treatment cost?
NHS services are free. You can see a trained advisor for several sessions of one to one advice or come to a group programme. The NHS advises you to use treatment for 12 weeks to help while you stop smoking. Nicotine products – gum, inhalator, patches, nasal spray, lozenges, microtabs and minis, Champix and Zyban are free if you are exempt from paying prescription charges. If not, you will pay a prescription charge for these products but this is cheaper than buying them over the counter.
How long does a course of treatment last?
Courses of NRT are provided for twelve weeks for people who stop smoking. Champix is prescribed for 12 weeks and Zyban for nine weeks. You can ask an advisor specific questions about any course of treatment.
